Dengue infections cross 10,000 in country; 233 more hospitalised in a day

Two hundred thirty-three people have been hospitalised after being infected with dengue, a mosquito-borne viral infection, in the last 24 hours across the country.

The total number of dengue infections in the country now stands at 10,090.

Apart from this, 42 people died of dengue infection this year as of now in Bangladesh. 

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) made the disclosure on Monday.

According to DGHS, 213 people in Dhaka and 20 people out of the capital were hospitalised in the past 24 hours.

Some 7,495 people were diagnosed with dengue virus this month (August). Before this month, in July, the country saw hospitalisation of 2,286 dengue infected patients. In addition, 271 people were indentified as dengue patients in June while 43 people were tested positive for dengue virus in May.

As per the data of the DGHS,  12 people died in July while 30 people died so far this month after being infected with dengue.

Currently, 1,004 people in Dhaka and 146 people outside of the capital are undergoing treatment in hospitals.
